Ofsted praises “calm and nurturing” Folkestone School
Mundella Primary School Achieves 'Good' Rating in May 2024
Mundella Primary School in Folkestone achieved a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating in all areas of their first inspection in 4 years, with glowing feedback about the ethos and atmosphere of the school and the behaviour of its pupils.
Inspectors commended the school for its inclusive, positive culture that supports all children and reported that trusting and warm relationships with caring staff mean that pupils feel safe and happy in school.
The school’s motto of ‘Aspire and Achieve’ is reflected in a comment from one parent that “My child is encouraged by the school to achieve his best and be happy, and he is”.
Another parent commented “The guidance of the staff and the help they have given have changed their lives. They are much happier children and more confident”. The report found that the children appreciate the opportunities offered in the new playground and that they enjoy the “family feel” the school fosters.
Mundella Primary School, which is a part of the Veritas Multi Academy Trust, was recognised for its determination to give pupils a wide range of experiences to expand their horizons with a free breakfast club, outdoor learning and a wide range of after school clubs.
Ofsted also noted that the school has “The capacity and resolve to forge further improvement”.
Lisa Paez and Lauren Wharmby who are the Acting Co-Headteachers have both said they are “very proud to add another successful chapter to our Mundella history” and that “staff work tirelessly to provide an excellent hands-on education”.
Chief Executive Officer Dr Kerry Jordan-Daus added: “Veritas Multi Academy Trust has committed to supporting the school to achieve this goal” and that “The hard work and aspiration of all is evidenced through this inspection”.
